A lovely little jaunt to the seaside. And a selection of islands. And a stairway which did not go to heaven.

Navy and Marine Corps Medal
Reason: AWARDED Navy and Marine Corps Medal (NMCM) for showcasing off-duty development of elite mountaineering skills during search and destroy operations in Ha Long Bay as part of Operation Dancing Proposition, demonstrating that physical limits and even the laws of gravitation can be overcome by a sufficiently motivated Marine attempting to locate North Cheltenamese defensive positions. (by Admin)
Mentioned in Despatches
Reason: AWARDED Mention in Dispatches (MID) for engaging enemy defensive positions at close range with bombing runs to drive the enemy out and into the waiting USMC forces, allowing the unit to avoid the casualties involved in close-assaulting prepared defenses during island battles as part of Operation Dancing Proposition, and succeeding in seriously demoralising the North Cheltenamese Forestry Corps. Without thought for personal safety, seized initiative and assaulted up the strongly held stairs of the secondary landing ground. Clearing several floors before succumbing to wounds and buying valuable time for the rest of EGR to land and assault behind them.

Accurately brought in several bombing runs that drove the enemy defenders out of their prepared positions and into the waiting EGR line. This allowed the enemy to be engaged under EGR's terms and this far less casualties than if EGR had had to assault their positions. On the initial seaborne attack Greensquare co-ordinated shaping attacks on the objective island in a timely manner to allow the assault to reach the shore with the enemy suppressed.

Pvt BurgerBoy has proven themselves adept at small boat handling in the most challenging of conditions. Navigating extreemly narrow and shallow channels between towering pinacles of rock they manouvered our assault craft to the target with great skill and were immediately responsive to helm orders as required.

Led the assault on the top of the first set of stairs, with the presence of mind to consider likely enemy concentrations and throw a pre-emptive grenade to bounce neatly off the wall above and directly into what turned out to be a fully crewed machine gun nest and ambush.

Defended the aid station against enemy attacks from the rear, holding the assault for long enough that other forces to respond. This action saved the lives of the squad medics and the wounded troopers they were treating and also maintained the integrity of the EGR assault up the mountainside as limited troops were required to reorientate to deal with the attack.

PFC Gucci kept Blue Squad moving, taking machine gun post after machine gun post, as EGR scalled the second stairway up to the radar station. Despite heavy casualties, the PVC ensured that the wounded were treated and those able to push onwards kept the pressure up on the Chelts and stopped them from re-manning positions overwatching our advance.
