Commendation: With their air force partner coordinated and persecuted accurate attacks against several enemy concentrations, also provided screening cover to protect EGR's flanks whilst they engaged another force. Operation: Op Another Inconvenience - Insert into padd fields to the north of the hostile village of Pia Hom, clear the immediate area then proceed NW towards a large enemy tunnel complex. Clear it, then head home.
Medal: Bronze Star Medal
Reason: AWARDED Bronze Star Medal (BSM) for deliberately triggering a tunnel complex trap during action near Pia Hom in Operation Another Inconvenience. Knowing that fellow squad members needed support at the tunnel entrance, Lt Greensquare put his faith in the medic with his unit and moved forward to clear the way, engaging and eliminating several Cheltnamese tunnel fighters and deliberately triggering a booby trap that was blocking the route of advance. Operation: Op Settler Spirit - A flight of three helicopters (Loach, Cobra, Guns-a-G-GO) under the control of a Forward Air Controller (Bird Dog) take on multiple hostile ground targets with varying success. Upon return to base, alternative ground transport is organsied to take a convoy of supplies to an IDAP camp in the village of Phouvong, which then needed defending from hostile attacks.

Reason: Air Force Combat Action Medal (AFCAM) for supporting the defence of the Phouvong during Operation Settler Spirit, standing post and returning fire against an oncoming barrage of RPG and rifle-grenade fire from Chelt Cong assault troops from his defensive position on the west side of the village. Operation: Op Geology Inspector - Insert deep behind Chelt lines and assault the SA-2 GUIDELINE site at Thud Ridge. To destroy: 7 x launchers, 1 x FAN SONG radar, 2 x backup radar trucks. Destroyed: 4 x launcher, 1 x FAN SONG, 1 x backup radar truck, and back across the bridge 75 seconds before the SF unit holding it were due to disengage.

Reason: ORDERED TDY 2 weeks Bien Hoa Air Base for re-familiarisation with USAF best practises following excessive ground combat enthusiasm in Operation Geology Inspector. (by Admin)
Commendation: I am sorry to report that 1Lt Greensquare has taken well to service among Uncle Sam's Misguided Children and has been observed to engage in such uncouth acts as "flanking" and "enfilading fire." However, his direction of these wayward tendencies into positive action led him to destroy a FAN SONG tracking/fire-control radar complex with a LAW-66 antitank weapon from a range of less than 30 yards, at considerable risk to his own life. Throughout this engagement Greensquare maintained mission focus, aggression and a high rate of fire from his personal weapon. Should probably be kept an eye on lest he go native. - by Admin

Operation: Op Press Recording - SAR for the crew of an A-3D Skywarrior bomber down in the vicinity of Fuck That. While TACAIR was available and landed some hefty strikes (some on the enemy, and some on the platoon) difficulty with radio propagation meant that in the end, a Herculean effort from the infantry was required instead.
Medal: Air Medal
Reason: AWARDED Air Medal (AM) for accurate and timely napalm attack against infantry in the open during SAR activity as part of Operation Press Recording, achieving hits on target with limited talk-on and successfully avoiding the majority of friendly ground troops. (by Admin)

Operation: Op Prize Manor - At the behest of Colonel Sunray, EGR is tasked to escort the wallet of an ARVN Major from San Bay Ban airfield to the village of Niem Tin, where said Major was last known to be. The only heli has a prior engagement in Saigon, so the unit are issued with a machine gun truck, and an AA truck, and must convoy through hostile territory to reunite the Major and his cash.

Reason: AWARDED Mention in Dispatches (MID) for providing danger close air support on enemy concentrations while the unit was attempting to force a route to the village of Niem Tin as part of Operation Prize Manor, often while personally under fire and with limited views of the targets available due to suppression and necessary cover. Commendation: Providing danger close air support on enemy concentrations to allow EGR to clear enemy blocking positions. Greensquare had to liaise with allied pilots and FAC with limited intel of enemy and friendly positions, often underfire and with limited views of target. Operation: Op Dancing Proposition - A lovely little jaunt to the seaside. And a selection of islands. And a stairway which did not go to heaven.

Reason: AWARDED Mention in Dispatches (MID) for engaging enemy defensive positions at close range with bombing runs to drive the enemy out and into the waiting USMC forces, allowing the unit to avoid the casualties involved in close-assaulting prepared defenses during island battles as part of Operation Dancing Proposition, and succeeding in seriously demoralising the North Cheltenamese Forestry Corps. Commendation: Accurately brought in several bombing runs that drove the enemy defenders out of their prepared positions and into the waiting EGR line. This allowed the enemy to be engaged under EGR's terms and this far less casualties than if EGR had had to assault their positions. On the initial seaborne attack Greensquare co-ordinated shaping attacks on the objective island in a timely manner to allow the assault to reach the shore with the enemy suppressed. - by Admin

Operation: Op Crust Opening - The dastardly French have made a sly, backroom deal to sell dairy centrafuges to the North Chelt government. To prevent them from using this technology to increase the intensity of fat in their cream, EGR is tasked with a search and recovery mission. Using helos to search the landscape, find the convoys carrying these centrafuges, secure the trucks, then recover them to any available US base.
Medal: Air Medal (1 Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster)
Reason: AWARDED Star to their Air Medal (AM) for distracting multiple enemy gun positions into firing on his aircraft to prevent them from being turned on the USMC elements during convoy intercepts as part of Operation Crust Opening. Lt Greensquare performed flight manoeuvres which must have been carefully calculated to be eye-catching as they certainly form no part of normal air combat manouvering, normal flight envelopes, or possibly even normality itself. Commendation: Dropped the infantry element of EGR several times accurately whilst under fire and then, whilst wounded, provided air cover and intel allowing the infantry to vector onto the enemy convoys. Without this the enemy cargos would have been unable to be intercepted and the centrifuges would now be with the enemy. - by Admin

Lt Greensquare displayed significant bravery when faced with axe-wielding Cheltenamese locals, managing not to fall down the well being sampled at the time. (by Admin)

Operation: Op Bubbling Lapdog - Four separate sorties as air cavalry. FAC ordered to sweep and send a preparatory bombardment, then the marines went in to sweep up and clear the area, lift out, and on to the next.
Commendation: Excellent coordination of danger close fires and air support to suppress/destroy enemy forces and protect the fire team. Significantly lower blue on blue than average. - by Admin
Commendation: Great co-ordination and proactive use of TACAIR, with only one blue on blue due to miscommunication. (And a small napalm-related incident but that was down to a slightly desperate short-range defence against a large infantry force so probably unavoidable.) - by Admin

Operation: Op Sure Instruction - Sweeping patrol through the Chelt countryside. Air support via our Air Force friends, and a Seahorse on standby as required.
Commendation: Lt Greensquare controlled the ballsiest strike I've ever seen, talking my OV-10 onto a machinegun located inside a rock formation less than 20m from friendly troops - his clear communication, use of smoke markers and precise setting up of the strike allowed it to be placed that close with no friendly casualties. - by Admin

Operation: Op Mediocre Parallelogram - CSAR EGR with close support from a variety of air assets, perform several CSAR operations.
Commendation: Coordinated Marine and Air assets. Bring in effective danger close support and shielding EGR as they were extracting a wounded pilot from their downed airframe. Greensquare passed on requests for aid and intel allowing Air assets and Marine help to react and pick up wounded marines and HVTs. Often under fire he secured landing points and talked FAO strikes along with giving BDA and waving off a strike before in struck friendly troops. - by Admin

Operation: Op Unit Displacement - Continuing to sweep the bridges to clear them of mines. And we definitely did not blow up the last bridge. Nope.
Commendation: During this operation I observed Lt Greensquare's FAC operation from the perspective of the ground team to inform his quarterly EVAL. Despite limited opportunities to strike defined targets, Greensquare called in and controlled fire from an AC-47 gunship against fortified enemy AA positions covering the approaches to a mission objective and, when the gunship proved unable to knock them out, deliberately drew fire from aniaircraft positions while the marine platoon crossed open ground to assault them, without regard for his own safety. Upon spotting a cluster of Chelt armour comprising two T-34 tanks and three BTR armoured carriers, within the restricted confines of a bridge, recognising them as a time ensitive and high value target, he attacked them with his 17pdr HE rockets on his own recognizance, landing all 14 rockets within the target area and destrying at least two vehicles. Greensquare's tactical performance was exemplary and further development should focus on target selection and the operational overview. - by Admin

Operation: Op Sorghum Evening - After some training on defensive and offensive driving, EGR were tasked with a recovery operation to secure General Westmoreland's Yacht, which had been stolen for ransom by Chelt Cong guerillas. Fighting off both waves of Chelt and opportunistic helicopter pilots who were attempting to seize the glory of the recovery for themselves, EGR held the line until the errant vessel could be winched out and returned to Saigon, supporting the preservation of the free world by ensuring the General once again had someone to store his mistresses.
Commendation: Under fire and close assault Greensquare held the primary objective against enemy QRF and then coordinated the successful extraction of the asset after identifying a number of false flag actions that could have led to the failure of the mission. - by Admin

Operation: Op Tweet Value - EGR infils into hostile territory using boats and mini-subs. Their mission is simple sneak past the defenses along the river and at Nalao, then, sneak into the fortified compound at Kouthi. In that compound was the Political Leader of the local Chelt Cong network, and he needed to be removed. Permanently.

Commendation: Acted with accuracy and bravery, often exposing themselves to fire, brought close air support in at often danger close ranges to drive back several sustained Chelt assaults. Greensquare also provided valuable leadership support in the coordination of the defense of the ridge line. Often placing himself in harm's way to carry out his FAO role. - by Admin

Operation: Op Strict Minority - Assist New Zealand forces in the defence of their base to the south by an agressive sweep to neutralise artillery spotters nearby.
Commendation: Tenacious pursuit of enemy intel into heavily boobytrapped positions, leading to the recovery of anti-armour assets that allowed the successful defence of allied and US positions against a concerted armoured push by enemy forces. Greensquare also led with courage and conviction neutralising several roving enemy patrols and the eventual discovery of an emplaced FOB overlooking friendly positions. - by Admin
