Reason: AWARDED Silver Star Medal (SSM) for actions during SAR Operations when leaving the safety of the evacuation helicopter as it was forced to lift off due to intense enemy fire in the LZ, in order to support and recover platoon casualties who had been shot during the move to the evacuation point, defending their bodies and keeping several of them stable until air support and an additional evacuation helicopter could arrive to sanitize the LZ and recover the marines to safety during Operation Old Dingo.
