Pvt Novel, at great personal risk to himself, mounted a solo CSAR operation after I crashed my OV-10 giving close air support to friendlies. In an area with many hostile forces, Novel carried me back to the safety of the fortifications and provided lifesaving medical treatment, before passing out due to blood loss from injuries sustained in the attempt. Recommend decoration for gallantry in the face of enemy action.
