CAS Activities in support of OP IVORY COAST

TYRANT - 2 ship flight of UH-1 Heavy Hog gunships with WP rockets and chin-turret AGLs. Employed in overwatch and eventually extraction of two POWs. 1 a/c lost.

SABER - 4 ship flight of A-7 Corsair with Mk83 low drag and napalm. Employed to disrupt nearby enemy garrisons and delay counterattacks.

EMBLEM - 4 ship flight of F-105 Thunderchief with cannon and AGM-12 Bullpup guided missiles. Employed against an armoured column counterattacking with Shilka support.

ARCTIC STONE - 3 ship flight of AH-1 Cobra with Hydra, miniguns and AGLs. Employed in overwatch and against an infantry counterattack.

BANDIT - 2 ship flight of A-1 Skyraider with Mk82 high drag and napalm. Employed against pursuing forces including armour. 1 a/c lost, pilot killed on ejection. RIP Bandit 2.

TRUMP CARD - 2 ship flight of CH-53 Super Stallion as extraction flight. 1 a/c lost on the ground, crew extracted.

ANGEL - 1 ship flight of CH-53 Super Stallion as backup extraction flight

GUARDIAN - 2 ship flight of AH-1 Cobra with Hydra and miniguns, security cover for ANGEL

Pour one out for the AF pilot, Bandit 2, who hung around way to long past bingo fuel to cover us then had his 'chute fail to open when he ejected.
