We love to welcome new people to this nerdy corner of our hobby. We have a great and diverse community of players, not all of whom directly know everyone else, but that comes with an important caveat about our culture. We just want to make sure that when we get new people, we are able to make sure that both they and the existing players have a good time. This means onboarding and integrating them properly - from the point of view of computer setup and mods so they are able to get onto a full scale mission smoothly, from the point of view of culturally so we all get on and the chat remains a wacky ballpit of fun, and from the point of view of learning how the game works so they and we don't get frustrated when someone asks how the javelin works or no-one told them how to bandage themselves and they spend the entire mission dying over and over.

Physical limits

There are only two 'physical' limits:

  • Server performance. If we go above ~50, it's not going to work. I think we have a long way before we get there, though.
  • Teamspeak Limits. Right now the cap is 25 concurrent, if we want more, we need to arrange it (and pay for it).

How do I invite new members?

  • Everyone who joins us must be invited by a current full member.
  • Please consider when inviting people whether they'll get on with the rest of the group, even if they get on really well with you.
  • All existing members have a no questions asked power of veto before the invitation may be extended.
  • When new people come into the group, the person responsible for assisting them with any questions they have is the person that invited them.
  • You should buddy with your new recruit for at least the first three missions, during which time you are responsible for them.

How do I become a full member?

  • Be invited by a current full member.
  • Complete the Setting Up guide to install and set up everything required. Your recruiter can provide you with the passwords needed,
  • Complete Boot Camp with your recruiter (and usually one or two other willing volunteers!)
  • (Recommended) Join the facebook group, chat, and/or discord to help communicate with the group more easily.
  • Join us for at least three missions after you have completed Boot Camp, under the care of your recruiter. We play on regular Friday and Sunday evenings (2000-2300 UK time) but games are occasionally postponed or cancelled due to availability of Sunray so please check if unsure.
